Eating well in Barcelona for under €10

What is this?

A barrio-by-barrio map of the places where you can still eat for under €10: menú del día, bocadillos, tapas, bowls, platos combinados. No national chains — only local bars, restaurants and corner shops.

Each pin is coloured by value for money within its own barrio, not the whole city: a €9 menu in Sarrià is compared with Sarrià, not with the Raval.

Every price shows the month someone saw it with their own eyes and proved it with a photo of the menu or receipt. If 180 days pass without a reconfirmation, it is struck through and stops counting in the ranking.

Why?

Because the menú del día has run away and nobody is keeping score. Guides call €15 “cheap”, reviews never mention the price, and the prices on the internet are years old.

Because a price without proof is worth nothing. Nothing is published here without a photo, and anyone can see the photo.

RataMap makes no money: no ads, no commissions, no “sponsored” places.

How does the ranking work?

• At least 3 votes are needed to be ranked; until then a place shows as “new”.
• The rating is shrunk towards the barrio average when there are few votes, so two friends cannot push a place to the top.
• The rating is adjusted for price: €7 with the same rating as €9.50 wins.
• Places are only compared with others in the same barrio.
• Prices older than 180 days do not count.

How to help

1. Add a place

   Under 60 seconds, no signup. All you need is a photo of the menu or receipt. Card numbers are blurred on your phone before anything is uploaded.

2. Reconfirm a price

   Passing a place that is already on the map? Take a fresh photo: the price is current again and you earn queso.

3. Vote

   Thumbs up or down on every place you know. With few votes the rating barely moves; with many, the ranking becomes trustworthy.

4. Earn queso

   +10 per approved place, +5 for reconfirming a price, +3 for the first photo of a dish, +2 for every upvote your place gets. Levels: Ratolí, Rata, Rata de Barrio, Rey del Queso.
